At the IET you’ll have more than just a job. Our work is exciting and challenging, connecting the people who solve the problems that matter. It means working with us has real meaning and impact, and you’ll grow – professionally and personally – in ways you never thought possible.

We’re also making significant investments in our people, including providing a modern, vibrant workplace and embracing hybrid working.

What you'll be doing

As the AV Solutions Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the sales and delivery of AV services at IET London: Savoy Place. You’ll work closely with internal teams and clients to design and offer tailored AV solutions for a range of events, including conferences, hybrid meetings, product launches, and more.

You’ll oversee AV sales, ensuring profitability and that services meet the needs of high-profile corporate clients as well as internal users. From conducting site visits to preparing detailed quotations, you’ll be the expert point of contact for clients, guiding them through our advanced AV and hybrid event capabilities.

Managing AV stock, ensuring seamless event setups, and maintaining high standards of customer service will be key aspects of the role. You'll also support the development of a talented AV team, directly managing a Digital Content Technician and collaborating with our wider Operations and Event teams to ensure smooth event execution and continuous improvement.

Additionally, you will attend industry events to stay on top of AV trends, monitor competitor services, and implement new technologies to enhance our offerings. In the absence of the AV Manager, you’ll step in to lead the team, ensuring everything runs efficiently.

This role requires a mix of technical expertise, client-facing interaction, and leadership skills to ensure a first-class AV service at one of London's leading venues.

A little more about the role

  • Lead and manage AV sales, providing tailored solutions and ensuring services meet client needs and profitability targets.
  • Liaise with clients to offer expert advice on AV packages, including audio, visual, lighting, hybrid events, and video conferencing.
  • Prepare comprehensive AV quotations, ensuring they are competitive and accurately reflect client requirements.
  • Oversee the setup, maintenance, and functionality of AV equipment across all event spaces, including lecture theatres and meeting rooms.
  • Manage AV stock, asset control, and documentation, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure smooth event delivery, including branding and set-build needs.
  • Monitor industry trends, attend events, and research new AV technologies to continuously improve service offerings.
  • Support a team of AV Technicians, providing ongoing training and support, and oversee one Digital Content Technician.
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed, conducting risk assessments for AV setups and equipment use.
  • Act as deputy to the AV Manager, handling senior-level responsibilities such as staff management, recruitment, and financial reporting.

A little more about what we’re looking for

  • Proven experience in AV sales within a live event venue, ideally handling events for 500+ delegates.
  • Strong understanding of AV technologies, including audio, visual, lighting, and hybrid event solutions.
  • Experience managing AV for live events, with operational knowledge of hardware and systems like TriCaster and AMX/QSC.
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills, with the ability to translate client needs into AV solutions.
  • Leadership experience, including managing a team, conducting training, and driving staff development.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, with a willingness to handle on-call duties when required.
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations, including risk assessments and permits to work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with good Excel skills and a familiarity with AV booking systems.
  • Desirable: CTS certification and experience with CRM or booking systems such as RendezVous or Kinetic.

What we hope you can bring to the role

You’ll come with strong experience in AV sales and a proven track record of delivering AV solutions for large-scale events, ideally in venues with tiered theatres and multiple event spaces. You’ll be confident selling AV technology and hybrid solutions, with excellent client-facing skills to understand and translate complex client needs into tailored AV packages.

Your technical expertise will cover audio, visual, lighting, video conferencing, IPTV, and streaming, with hands-on experience in managing AV operations for live events. Knowledge of modern AV systems like TriCaster and Analogue Way, alongside familiarity with video conferencing tools such as Zoom and Teams, will be essential.

Leadership experience is key, as you’ll need to manage, develop, and motivate a skilled team, ensuring they deliver outstanding service while continuously improving their technical knowledge. Your organisational skills will allow you to handle multiple projects and tight deadlines, all while maintaining a flexible, can-do attitude. We’re looking for someone with strong communication skills, fluency in English, and the ability to build lasting relationships with clients and colleagues alike.

A background in health and safety regulations, managing permits, and conducting risk assessments is important, as well as a keen eye for detail when it comes to managing AV stock and ensuring equipment is well maintained. If you’re familiar with AV booking systems like Rendezvous, and have CTS certification, that’s an added bonus! Flexibility with working hours and a proactive approach will ensure you succeed in this dynamic role.
