Stevenage with Hybrid Working

At the IET, making our world a better place starts by creating a better place for our people.

At the IET you’ll have more than just a job. Our work is exciting and challenging, connecting the people who solve the problems that matter. It means working with us has real meaning and impact, and you’ll grow – professionally and personally – in ways you never thought possible.

We’re also making significant investments in our people, including providing a modern, vibrant workplace and embracing hybrid working.

What you'll be doing

As our Programme Manager, you'll lead two strategically important transformation programmes that sit at the heart of the IET's future: Technology Firm Foundations and Member & Customer Experience.

These programmes are closely connected. One focuses on strengthening our technology foundations through platform simplification, modernisation, data, AI and automation. The other is focused on improving the experiences of our members and customers by creating simpler, more joined-up journeys across our services, systems and processes.

Working across both programmes, you'll bring a joined-up approach to planning, governance and delivery. You'll ensure priorities are aligned, dependencies are understood, and activity across multiple projects is coordinated to achieve the greatest organisational benefit. This is a broad transformation role that goes beyond technology delivery alone, bringing together people, processes, systems, service improvements and organisational change.

You'll work closely with project leads, subject matter experts, senior leaders, volunteers and governance groups to create a clear roadmap, maintain momentum and provide visibility of progress. You'll help teams navigate complexity, resolve challenges and ensure decisions are informed by a clear understanding of risks, opportunities and interdependencies.

A key part of the role will be building engagement and ownership across the organisation. You'll support colleagues through change, help embed new ways of working and ensure the benefits of transformation are realised over the long term. Along the way, you'll provide coaching and guidance to project leads, helping them deliver successfully while fostering a collaborative and accountable delivery culture.

What we hope you can bring to the role

We're looking for an experienced Programme Manager with a strong track record of delivering complex transformation programmes that span multiple projects, stakeholders and business functions. While you'll be comfortable leading technology-enabled change, we're not looking for someone focused solely on technology delivery. Instead, you'll understand how successful transformation brings together technology, processes, people and organisational change to create lasting impact.

You'll be confident operating in complex environments where priorities evolve, balancing strategic thinking with strong programme discipline. You'll know how to establish governance, manage risks and dependencies, and maintain focus on outcomes while bringing others with you on the journey.

Strong stakeholder management will be essential. You'll have experience building trusted relationships across different levels of an organisation, influencing decision-making and creating shared accountability for delivery. Experience supporting organisational change, service improvement or customer-focused transformation programmes will be particularly valuable.

Most importantly, you'll bring a collaborative, pragmatic and engaging approach, with the ability to create clarity, build confidence and help teams succeed through periods of significant change.
