Stevenage with Hybrid Working
At the IET, making our world a better place starts by creating a better place for our people.
At the IET you’ll have more than just a job. Our work is exciting and challenging, connecting the people who solve the problems that matter. It means working with us has real meaning and impact, and you’ll grow – professionally and personally – in ways you never thought possible.
We’re also making significant investments in our people, including providing a modern, vibrant workplace and embracing hybrid working.
What you'll be doing
As a Data Technology Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and modernising our data strategy and technology stack, ensuring our approach is forward-thinking, efficient, and built on best practice. Reporting to the Head of Data Technology and CRM, you’ll not only set the vision for our data architecture, but also stay close to the action: building, problem-solving, and delivering solutions alongside your team.
This is a role where you’ll lead from the front, providing technical guidance, hands-on expertise, and strategic direction in equal measure. You’ll oversee the modernisation of our Azure-based data environment, champion scalable and resilient data pipelines, and drive adoption of tools such as Fabric, Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, and Delta Lake.
Working across all areas of the IET, you’ll ensure our data is secure, accessible, and delivering maximum value for analytics, business intelligence, and operational excellence. You’ll foster a culture of technical excellence in the Data team, guiding offshore development, collaborating with business stakeholders, and making impactful architectural decisions that keep us at the forefront of innovation.
What we hope you can bring to the role
We’re looking for a hands-on leader, someone with deep technical credibility in data engineering, but also the strategic insight to shape organisation-wide data strategies. You’ll have extensive experience with Azure data technologies, a track record of delivering high-quality, scalable solutions, and the leadership skills to inspire and develop a high-performing team.
You’ll be just as comfortable in a design meeting as you are debugging a pipeline or building a proof-of-concept. Your ability to balance big-picture thinking with practical delivery will be key to your success.
